microStart (Belgium)

Carla (35) has literally begun to build a new career for herself. She had been managing a café in Brussels for many years, which she enjoyed but as costs started rising, it was difficult to keep the business running. Eventually she sold the business and decided to do something completely different.

With a EUR 6.300 loan from the Belgian microfinance provider microStart, she was able to set up a plastering firm with her husband and brother-in-law, installing plasterboards with a small team across Belgium. She is now looking to take on more staff in the next few years as demand for plastering continues to rise.
