Update in relation to the Single EU Equity Instrument (as at 1 February 2020)

The application period for the Single EU Equity Instrument has closed. We are working on further initiatives with the European Commission in the private equity and venture capital space to support SME financing in the context of the next Multi-Annual Financial Framework.

Please note that the above communication does not apply to the “Recovery Equity Facility for Innovative Technology Companies” (RE-FIT Facility), whose application period expires on 30 June 2021.

The Single EU Equity Financial Instrument supports European enterprises’ growth, research and innovation (R&I) from the early stage, including seed, up to expansion and growth stage.

The Single EU Equity financial instrument is financially supported by Horizon 2020  and COSME (Programme for the Competitiveness of Enterprises and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises).

The EIF is currently managing the Equity Facility for Growth (EFG) under COSME and InnovFin Equity under Horizon 2020.

To mitigate the economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, the EIF and the European Commission (EC) have launched specific support measures under InnovFin Equity. These are a continuation of the EC’s commitment to bring immediate relief to hard-hit enterprises, and are part of the package of measures announced by the EIB Group on 16 March 2020 to mobilise support for Europe’s SMEs and mid-caps in a timely manner.

Funds interest to apply for financing under the new calls for expression of interest should consult the application documents and the box on COVID-19 measures below.

How to apply

Information for funds (fund managers)

Are you interested in becoming a financial intermediary under Equity Facility for Growth (EFG) and/or InnovFin Equity?

Apply by downloading and submitting the relevant application documents published here below by 31 December 2020 (date of reception by EIF). Applications will be assessed by EIF for pre-selection on the basis of the Expressions of Interest, on a “first come, first served” basis. EIF selects financial intermediaries according to a standard process involving due diligence and proof of compliance with relevant standards and legislation. For further questions, interested financial intermediaries may contact EUequityInstrument@eif.org

Information for businesses (final beneficiaries)

Find here the list of financial intermediaries currently operating under InnovFin Equity and COSME EFG. For updates on finance available in your country under further EU initiatives, visit also http://europa.eu/youreurope/business/funding-grants/access-to-finance
