After the agreement signed on last Monday, the European Investment Fund (EIF) and Fondo Italiano d' Investimento (FII) are pleased to announce their first joint investment into Alto Capital III, a fund managed by Alto Partners SGR. The commitment of EIF and FII includes a total investment of up to EUR 50 million. Alto Capital III is the latest lower mid-market fund launched by Alto Partners SGR, an independent private equity firm founded in 2004.
Alto Partners has been active for over ten years in equity investments supporting the growth of Italian SMEs, focusing in particular on companies in their expansion phase, both in terms of dimension and internationalisation.
Fondo Italiano d'investimento SGR (FII) is a company managing the first private equity fund established in Italy on the initiative of the Ministry of Economy and Finance. Initial investors include Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, Intesa SanPaolo, Unicredit, Monte dei Paschi di Siena, Istituto Centrale delle Banche Popolari (for EUR 250m each) and other five smaller private banks.
In November 2010, FII held its first closing at EUR 1,200m. FII operates both through acquisitions of minority stakes, to support the development of Italian enterprises having a turnover of more than EUR 10 million, and investing as a "fund of funds" into other private equity vehicles in line with its objectives.
