The Complaints Mechanism: an accountability tool for the EIF

  •
    Release date: 09 June 2023

Complaints are critical in ensuring an organisation and its activities are accountable to the beneficiaries it intends to serve, namely the small and medium size business for EIF.

The independent Complaints Mechanism (CM) within the EIB Inspectorate General enables citizens, businesses and civil society to make their voices heard regarding EIB Group operations or activities. Complaints must be acknowledged, assessed and responded to. Within the framework of complaints received from external parties about EIF activities, the CM supports the EIF to keep up to its principles and standards.

Small and medium sized businesses and citizen's concerns about EIF activities mainly relate to access to finance, for example alleged maladministration by EIF or issues with the selection process by intermediaries or communication in the context of calls for expression of interest.
